It's a shame my old introduction to play by post roleplaying was deleted when we switched forums.
So, play by post roleplaying is where you take on the guise of another character in a situation that one person, the gamemaster (or GM) sets up. A GM who wants to run a game will post a thread about it, detailing how the game will work, and then interested parties will reply to it. They can run the game entirely in one thread, with non-game or meta "out of character" (OOC) information marked in the thread, or they can split things up into a game thread and an OOC thread.
If you don't get it, it's best to learn by example. You'll get it easily then!
